While weather has a way of hindering trail access, we do make the best of the space we have. Leelanau County has some great kid friendly trails to ride:
- The Heritage Trail (especially between Dune Climb and Glen Haven) This is a paved trail in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The section between the Dune Climb and Glen Haven is very mild, with one small hill. In the summer, make sure to pack bathing suits as Glen Haven has a fabulous beach.
- The Leelanau TART Trail A paved trail that runs between Traverse City and Suttons Bay. The first stretch between the village of Suttons Bay and S Richter Road is nice and mellow. Post ride, cruise on down to the Hop Lot - a family and bike friendly brewery .3 miles from the TART trailhead.
- 45 North Vineyard and Winery's bottom vineyard loop is ~1.3 mile of easy trail on grass. The lawn and bathrooms make it a great place for families. And the winery staff love kids and seeing families playing outside!
