PAVED BIKE TRAILS
Leelanau County is incredibly fortunate to be home to two fabulous paved trails.
The Leelanau TART Trail: The 17-mile Leelanau Trail provides a paved off-road connection between Traverse City and Suttons Bay. Running through the last of Leelanau County’s former railroad corridors, the Leelanau Trail features picturesque forests, farms, vineyards, lakes and ponds. The Leelanau Trail is a mostly flat trail.
Sleeping Bear Dunes Heritage Trail: The Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail (SBHT) is a hard-surface multi-use trail that passes through Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore from Empire through Glen Arbor to the Bohemian Road (CR-669). The Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail has numerous steep grades between Empire and the Dune Climb. From the Dune Climb north the trail is generally flat.
